5 Months Old

Scarlett you are 5 months old today!
You wear a size 3 diaper and 3/6 month and some 6/9  month clothes
You weigh 18 lbs 4 oz
You can almost sit up by yourself! You love sitting in your bumbo, but you still like your bouncer.
You absolutely love floor time so I just lay your quilt down in the living room and let you roll and play.
Your favorite toy is Sophie the giraffe you love chewing on her :)
You also started taking a pacifier, but you do like your thumb too. Actually there are times you try and fit your whole hand in your mouth, haha!
You eat cereal every day and formula as well, but you will be starting veggies in the next 2 weeks!
You like to make this squeaking noise now it's so funny and you just smile so big every time after you squeak.
Scarlett you are gorgeous!
You are such a happy baby and so calm and content. Everyone is always telling me how beautiful you are and what a good baby you are...it makes me so proud :)
You do have your moments when you get upset, but there is usually a reason for it. And when that happens we like to call you Gertrude lol. Don't ask me why it's just something we started doing and it has stuck.
You are doing great in daycare and your teacher Ms. Lori is so good with you she will even text me during the day to let me know how you're doing, which I love bc I miss you all day!

You start out in the pack-n-play next to our bed every night, but always end up in the bed with us. Since you have started rolling over you always end up on your tummy with your face down in the mattress and it makes me so nervous!! So I just put you in bed with Daddy and I where I know you'll be safe :)
I heard you laugh for the first time 2 weeks ago and I can't get you to do it again, but it was the cutest thing I have ever seen!!!
I love you so much Scarlett. I thank God every day for this precious gift he has given us. I wish I could make this time of my life go in slow motion. You are pure joy!

Family..Football..and Germany :)

We had one of the best weekends we have had in a while! Not that we did anything extra special, but we left the stress of the work week at the door on Friday afternoon and just enjoyed our weekend! Friday night we went to dinner with Jordan's parents at Willie’s (our favorite family restaurant). It's great because they have a big sandbox outside for the kids so Gavin is able to play and have fun and we can have some adult time, it’s nice. A couple of people Jordan's dad works with ended up coming to join us as well and we had a great conversation and lots of laughs.

You are my Sunshine
Saturday Jordan had to go meet up with some classmates to study for a big test they have on Monday. When they were done studying the kids and I met up with them at Gringos for lunch then we went back to his friend’s house to swim. Scarlett went swimming and loved it!

Look Mommy I'm swimming!
The Texans game was on so of course we couldn’t miss that! So we decided to have a couple friends over to watch the game. Plus our friend Neli just got in town and I couldn’t wait to see her!!! She is from Germany J We met her last year when she was interning at a company one of our friends worked at and she liked it so much she decided to come back again this year and intern again! She will be here until the end of September. She is so kind and I haven’t traveled much so I love hearing about the culture and hearing her speak German is the coolest! It was so much fun having our friends over we have a great group of people we surround ourselves with and we’re constantly laughing when we’re all together.

So What's Next?

I forgot to upload the sneak peak pics the other day from our family photo shoot J they have the copyright across them bc she hasn’t finished editing all of them. I can’t wait to see the rest.

I have such a beautiful family and we have so much fun together. My family is my whole world most people throw themselves into their careers, but I have found I would rather put my whole heart into my family right now while my babies are still young. So Jordan and I had a long conversation last night and after taking a year off from school to have the baby I am going to start back up in the Spring. I have 18 classes left to finish my degree which will take about 2 years…I always feel guilty for wanting to finish school though.

Finishing my degree is so important to me to just have that feeling of … wow I earned this myself…I did it. I can’t wait for that feeling! The reason I say I feel guilty though is because I work full time so I will have to take classes in the evening and I  feel like my kids will feel neglected while I am not there. I know it’s a silly fear because they will be at home with Daddy I just have a hard time doing something for myself and being a little selfish for a change.

I know it’s what’s best for our family though because once I finish I will have much better career opportunities. There is something about being a mom where you just want to put your life on hold and serve your kids and it’s hard to stop and make time for something you really want to do. Jordan is such a great support system he is always encouraging me to finish and to not worry about the kids he says when they get older they won’t even remember me being gone just a couple hours a week for school. His parents were also finishing school when he was young and he said he would even go to school with his mom while she was finishing nursing school and sit in the back of the classroom and color or play with cars. In the end I am doing this for my kids and how will I be able to get them to finish college if I don’t even do it? So it will be done! I can’t wait to start back next semester!!

Enough about me…I am sooooo excited for my husband too only 4 more weeks and he will be graduating the police academy!!! He has put so much hard work and effort into this academy and he has some really tough tests coming up, but I know he will do great I can’t wait to see him in that blue uniform getting a badge pinned on him!! God has always been there for our family and has never steered us in the wrong direction. He has brought our family through some tough times the last couple of years and I have a feeling it’s all going to go up from here J

A Big First and Our Family Filled Weekend

We had such a busy weekend, but I want to start off this post with what Gavin did today....
First Day of Kindergarten!!!!

Gavin and Mrs. Miller

Gavin you are growing up sooo fast!!! I can't believe you are already in Kindergarten. It feels like just last week Daddy and I were potty training you and now you are such a handsome young boy :( It was great to see your eyes get so big when you walked into your classroom and see your name tag on your desk. You were so excited and not even nervous you were so brave! Of course I cried when you didn't look back, but Daddy told me we have prepared you for this day and that's what we want...we want you to be independent and a strong individual and that you are sweetie. You had such an amazing first day you were sooooo excited when I picked you up. You showed me the pictures you colored and told me about music class and lunch time and all of the friends you made :) Daddy and I are so proud of you Gavin!

We had a busy weekend!! It was off to Katy on Saturday for my best friend's baby shower. My family also lives there so we were able to visit with my mom and dad as well :) We first stopped by my dad's house so I could drop the boys off so they could hang out with Papa and Max while Scarlett and I went to the baby shower. When we got there my dad surprised us with an early Christmas gift!! A new camera and my new obsession!! Not only that I am installing Photoshop as we speak!! Omg I am soooo excited check out how awesome this camera is. Thanks Daddy!!

This pic is from my phone so its small...thank goodness I have a new camera lol

So Scarlett and I headed off to Atosha's shower with the new camera of course! Atosha is due September 19th!! I am sooo excited for her :) She is having a boy and his name is Jhett I can't wait to meet him. She is like family to me, her and I were roommates when Jordan and I met and have been friends since high school. What's even better is that Jordan's family has become close with her too so we were all at her shower and wouldn't have missed it for the world!!
Me and Tosh

Atosha and Bethany (My sister-in-law) she's due with my first niece November 20th!

Tosh opening up the bucket full of goodies we bought her! I made the box :) I was very proud of myself hehe

Left to Right: My mom, Scarlett, Me, Tosh, Bethany, my mother-in-law

The girls :) So excited to all be mommy's together!
After the shower we went back to my dad's house to watch the Texan's game!!! We are huge Texans fans in our family and we go all out for the games with our Texans gear :) We're holding out for them to make it to the Superbowl one of these days! haha we're doing pretty good so far this season!! A couple of the pics are a little blurry bc I was trying to figure out the settings on the camera.

So that was our Saturday!! Then Sunday we went and took family pictures!! I am so excited about them. I will post those later though. Gotta go finish installing Photoshop :)

Tutu's....a laughing matter!

So last night I finished my first tutu! It actually turned out better than I thought it would. It was time consuming, but worth it. I am not a crafty person by any means so this was a stretch for me. Since I have had my daughter I have had an urge to want to make everything for her haha. I had to have a sewing machine for Christmas, bc I was going to have a daughter and needed to make all of her dresses....um yeah I am still trying to figure out how to use it! I hope to get the hang of it soon though!
Here is the end result :)
(Headband made by Aubrey Reese Boutique)

I made this because we are taking picture on Sunday and I have to have some pictures of her in a tutu! So anyway, I put the tutu on her when I am done and omg she starts laughing OUT LOUD!!! It was the first time I have ever heard her do that. It was the cutest thing I have ever seen I wish I would have caught it on video because it was precious! She LOVED her tutu :)

Tonight is Meet the Teacher Night at Gavin's school! I can't wait to meet his teacher :)

A little bit of this and a little bit of that

I thought I was going to keep up with this blog, but I seem to have failed once again, ha! I started a new job a couple weeks ago and a girl at work has a blog and has inspired me to start it back up. So here’s a little bit of what’s going on in The Stepp Household.

Scarlett will be 5 months next week and at her 4 month appointment she weighed 16 lbs. 10 oz. and was 25 ½ inches long! She is in the 99% for weight and 98% for height lol she is my big healthy girl :)

She is rolling over on her tummy now and is attempting to crawl. We bought her a Bumbo seat because she has gotten to the point where she doesn’t like to lay on her back anymore. She wants to sit up and see everything!

She eats cereal twice a day and will be starting on veggies soon! LOL I love this pic of her..

OH and I forgot to mention she started daycare!! She’s a big girl now :) I was sooooo sad to leave her and start back at my new job!!  I am fortunate I got to spend as much time with her in her first few months as I did though and will cherish that forever. She LOVES daycare though! She has an amazing teacher, Ms. Lori, and I am so comfortable with her and she treats Scarlett like her own so that makes it a little easier to leave her. She even did art work last week! I came to pick her up and the bottom of her foot was all pink haha then I saw a little picture of her foot hanging on the classroom wall it was so cute. This is her on her first day of daycare…

Gavin is starting Kindergarten on MONDAY!! I can’t believe it!! Where does the time go?? He is so excited. We got all of his school supplies and we got him some new clothes. He of course wanted the Texans backpack…that boy loves football!

Tomorrow is Meet the Teacher night at his school! I cannot wait to meet his teacher, I really hope she is a good teacher and helps keep Gavin as excited about school as he is now. He is also starting fall ball (baseball) we don’t know what team he is on yet. We let him choose between soccer and baseball and he chose baseball…which I’m kind of happy about because it’s much more fun to watch haha. He got to see Tyler and Kendall this weekend…not under the best circumstances bc Nana was in the hospital, but she is at home and doing well now! But they don’t see each other often so I had to take a couple pics!

Football season is back!!! You know what that means…..LET’S GO TEXANS!!! Scarlett watched her very first Texans game, and of course was dressed appropriately for the occasion. She seems to like football so we will keep her ;) It will be a problem if my girl doesn’t enjoy football lol.

That’s all for now…I am making my first tutu for Scarlett, I hope it turns out okay! I see all these adorable ones all these ladies make and thought, “I can totally do that!” haha we’ll see! I will post pics with the finished product later!
